Dana Polan is a Professor of Cinema Studies at NYU and author of 8 books in film and media studies, including Power and Paranoia: History, Narrative, and the American Cinema, 1940-1950, Scenes of Instruction: The Beginnings of the U.S. Study of Film, 1915-1935, and Julia Child's the French Chef. He taught in the film studies program at the University of Pittsburgh from 1980 to 1996.
