Stalin's Daughter Screening

October 26, 2017 - 12:00pm

4130 Posvar Hall

In the midst of the Cold War, Stalin's daughter Svetlana Alliluyeva, his favorite child, flees to the West.  Death and violence have overshadowed her life: her mother and brother die; relatives are killed; Stalin had her lover abducted.  Svetlana Alliluyeva becomes a board piece between communism and capitalism.  This documentary includes interviews with friends and family, photos, and documents.  Svetlana Alliluyeva’s final broadcast interview introduces us to a witness of the 20th century.  Grace Kennan Warnecke, featured in the film, will give a brief introduction.
