As an interdisciplinary program, film studies draws upon faculty from nine departments in order to cover broad areas such as film criticism, theory, and history.

Our faculty is highly published with approximately 40 books among them on film and media (as well as additional texts on other subjects). They have lectured internationally in such places as England, Scotland, Ireland, Canada, Japan, Israel, Sweden, Austria, Germany, Russia, Poland, Belgium, France, Georgia, Kazakhstan, Finland, and Holland.

They have received awards from such prestigious organizations as the National Endowment for the Humanities, the National Endowment for the Arts, the American Council of Learned Societies, the Ford Foundation, the MacArthur Foundation, and the Society for Cinema and Media Studies.
