WTAE's Dan Pratt visits Broadcasting class

The University of Pittsburgh's Broadcasting class was treated today by a visit from WTAE-TV photojournalist Dan Pratt. Mr. Pratt, widely considered the City of Pittsburgh's most experienced sports/news cameraman, spoke to the students about the news industry and the art of covering sports.

Mr. Pratt walked the students through the use of his camera (which he brought to class) and provided insight into the daily rigors of the business as a camera operator/photographer.

Mr. Pratt has been documenting news and sports for WTAE-TV for 34 years. He has spent more than 20 years covering every sport for the Pitt Panthers. In addition, Mr. Pratt also is the camera operator for Pittsburgh Steelers football games.

Pitt broadcast students will be in both Pitt Studios and the broadcast facility this Wednesday working with studio cameras and field cameras. They will be joined in class by Industry professionals Jim Krisher and Scott Dobson, as well as Pitt's sports Broadcast department.
