Graduate Applicants 

The Dietrich School of Arts and Sciences at the University of Pittsburgh has transitioned to a new admissions platform called Liaison Outcomes that will now accept applications for Fall 2024 admission to the doctoral program in Film and Media Studies. Please note that application deadlines vary according to associated departments, with English having a deadline of December 10, 2023; French having a deadline of January 10, 2024; and History of Art & Architecture and Slavic Languages & Literatures having deadlines of January 15, 2024. 

To navigate the new Liaison admissions platform, please review the instructions below: 

  • Select the term for which you are seeking admission
  • Log into the system by creating a new user name and password, or an existing username and password
  • Select "Film Studies-PHD" when prompted
  • Select your area of specialization on a subsequent pull-down menu 

Undergraduate Applicants

Undergraduate applicants are encouraged to apply online through the University of Pittsburgh Office of Admissions and Financial Aid.

Applying for a Minor in Film and Media Studies

The minor in Film and Media Studies is designed for the student who is majoring in another field, but wishes to do some concentrated work in film studies. Students wishing to work toward a minor in Film and Media Studies should declare with the undergraduate advising office in Thackeray Hall.
